Destination Wedding - Punta Cana | Ana Clara e Diogo

Já começar dizendo, senta que lá vem textão, então se gosta e ler aproveita. Você curte ler as histórias aqui, essa vai ser mais umas dentre das milhares que tivemos, mas essa em especial é a relização de um sonho, tanto da Ana Clara e Diogo quanta a minha também! Vou contar a história dos dois lados, vou falar tudo o que acontece em um casamento nesse estilo de Destination Wedding e o quanto a gente se envolve com tudo isso, então prepara.

Há alguns anos atrás Ana Clara e Diogo conheceram meu trabalho e vieram de férias para região aqui de Porto de Galinhas, fizemos as fotos aqui com eles. Passou-se alguns anos, Ana Clara me chama novamente e só diz; Carlos a gente vai se casar e a primeira coisa que pensamos quando falamos de fotografia foi, tem que ser o Carlos. Ouvir isso pra mim é como se fosse anúncio de melhor fotógrafo do mundo, Oscar dos fotógrafos veio pra mim, felicidade é tanta quando escuto isso, que vocês não tem ideia. Só que tinha um porém, na próxima pergunta era; Carlos você faz casamento fora? Lógico que eu faço, já disse logo, me diga data e horário que tô chegando. Mas a surpresa foi tão grande que os digníssimos simplesmente falam, vamos nos casar em Punta Cana. Como assim? Para eles seria a realização de um baita sonho poder fazer um casamento desses, mas por muito menos estavam realizando o sonho de um fotógrafo. Desde que comecei a fotografar há 16 anos atrás sempre sonhei em fotografar pessoas no mundo, essa seria a oportunidade de viajar fotografando pessoas pelo mundo.
Sempre fui muito sincero com todos meus clientes, sempre peço que sejam comigo também, mandei a proposta e falei. Dê uma olhada, essa é minha proposta base e veja se entra dentro do que vocês esperam! Aqueles dias passaram, pareciam meses, kkkkkkk. Mas enfim os dois entram em contato e vamos fazer uma reunião, eles disseram tudo que estava rolando, por isso peço muito sempre a sinceridade pois eu quero poder sempre fazer parte, vou tentar ao máximo encaixar na necessidade de cada um. Repassei tudo o que daria para fazer, como faria e se daria também, muito importante. No caso, pediram mais um tempo para pensar pois realmente era a realização do sonho deles, isso depende de tantos fatores, mas que queriam muito que eu fosse por já terem tido um primeiro contato comigo. De tantas propostas, no fim deu tudo certo e conseguimos nos acertar para consseguir ir, feliz eles e eu aqui também imensamente grato por fazer parte de um momento desse e de poder realizar um sonho. Mas para deixar claro, a proposta era ir sozinho, precisava se virar e fazer tudo acontecer sendo apenas um fotógrafo.

Tirada todas as documentações, vacina, passaporte e tudo que precisava para poder embarcar nessa baita aventura. Eis a questão, Carlos temos a passagens que você pode ir mais tarde ou a passagem junto com a gente mesmo, vai no mesmo voo que praticamente todos os convidados? Nem imaginam qual escolhi né? Vai nessa cedo mesmo, quanto mais contato com todo mundo que vai estar nesse casamento melhor, foi super melhor mesmo. Como não gosto de falar muito, cheguei praticamente no mesmo horário que eles no aeoporto, assim já conhecia todo mundo e foi a coisa mais linda! Simplesmente sempre funciona ter contato com as pessoas, poder ter conhecido família e os amigos da Ana Clara e Diogo foi sensacional. Embarcados e vamos rumo a Punta Cana na República Dominicana, nosso voo chegou era bem tarde, madrugada e por conta disso não seria possível ir diretamente ao resort onde seria de fato o casamento, tivemos que dormir em um hotel mais próximo do resort para depois seguir viagem para um horário mais próximo do check-in. Aqui que começa a aventura, contato ficou bem maior, praticamente esse hotel era somente para os convidados e família deles! Acordados e vamos simbora para o resort.

Para resumir um pouco fizemos 4 eventos nesse casamento, sessão pré-wedding aquele famoso ensaio de casal antes do casório, welcome drink que é para dar as boas vindas a todos os convidados no resort. Pool party que é a festa na piscina, normalmente pessoal vai com as boias personalizadas, dá os chinelos personalizados, as bolsas também. Nesse tivemos um dia a mais, que foi do Beach Day, normalmente eles são juntos com a pool party ou sendo os mesmos, passeios de lancha, pessoal na piscina e sempre perto de um bar, kkkkk! Beach Day foi um dia especial para fazer o passeio de lancha pelas ilhas em Punta Cana, teve que ser um dia separado por ser tratar de um passeio mais longo e por último o dia do casório, Wedding Day. Mas continua lendo, que vou contar mais de cada dia antes de vocês olharem as fotos...

Let me start by saying, sit down because here comes a long text, so if you like reading, enjoy. You enjoy reading the stories here; this will be just one of the thousands we've had, but this one in particular is the realization of a dream, both Ana Clara and Diogo's and mine! I'll tell the story from both sides, I'll talk about everything that happens at a destination wedding and how involved we are in it all, so get ready.

A few years ago, Ana Clara and Diogo discovered my work and came on vacation to the Porto de Galinhas region. We took the photos here with them. A few years later, Ana Clara called me again and simply said, "Carlos, we're getting married." The first thing we thought about when we talked about photography was, "It has to be Carlos." Hearing that, for me, is like an announcement for the best photographer in the world. I've won the Oscar for photographers. I'm so happy to hear that, you have no idea. But there was a catch: the next question was, "Carlos, do you do weddings abroad?" Of course I will. I said it right away, "Tell me the date and time, I'm coming." But the surprise was so great that the dignitaries simply said, "Let's get married in Punta Cana." What do you mean? For them, it would be a dream come true to be able to do a wedding like that, but for much less, they were fulfilling a photographer's dream. Ever since I started photography 16 years ago, I've always dreamed of photographing people around the world. This would be the opportunity to travel and photograph people around the world.

I've always been very sincere with all my clients. I always ask them to be with me too. I sent the proposal and said, "Take a look, this is my base proposal and see if it fits your expectations!" Those days flew by; they felt like months, HAHAHA. But finally, they both got in touch and we're going to have a meeting. They explained everything that was going on, so I always ask for honesty because I always want to be a part of it. I'll do my best to accommodate each person's needs. I went over everything I could do, how I would do it, and if it would work, which is very important. In this case, they asked for more time to think about it because it truly was their dream come true. It depends on so many factors, but they really wanted me to go because they'd already had a first contact with me. After so many proposals, everything worked out in the end, and we managed to make an agreement to go. They were happy, and I was also immensely grateful to be part of such a moment and to be able to make a dream come true. But to be clear, the plan was to go alone; I needed to manage and make everything happen as just a photographer.

After taking care of all the documentation, vaccinations, passport, and everything else I needed to embark on this incredible adventure, here's the question: Carlos, do we have tickets that allow you to fly later or a ticket with us, on the same flight as practically all the guests? You can't even guess which one I chose, right? Go early; the more contact I have with everyone who will be at the wedding, the better. It was truly amazing. Since I don't like to talk much, I arrived at the airport practically at the same time as them, so I already knew everyone, and it was the most beautiful thing! It's always great to connect with people; being able to meet Ana Clara and Diogo's family and friends was amazing. We boarded the plane and headed to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Our flight arrived very late, in the early hours of the morning, so we couldn't go directly to the resort where the wedding would actually take place. We had to stay at a hotel closer to the resort and then continue our journey closer to check-in time. This is where the adventure begins; contact became much more intense; this hotel was practically exclusively for the guests and their families! We woke up and headed to the resort.

To summarize, we had four events at this wedding: a pre-wedding session, the famous couple's photoshoot before the wedding, a welcome drink to welcome all the guests to the resort, and a pool party. People usually come with personalized floats, give out personalized flip-flops, and handbags. This time, we had an extra day, which was Beach Day. These days, they're usually combined with the pool party or the same day, with boat rides, people in the pool, and always near a bar, lol! Beach Day was a special day for the boat tour around the islands in Punta Cana. It had to be a separate day because it was a longer tour, and finally, the wedding day. But keep reading, because I'll tell you more about each day before you see the photos...

Para quem vai lendo a história já imagina a loucura que é organizar tudo isso! Mas, o pessoal da Cheers Travel organiza tudo, tem uma equipe preparadíssima para fazer esse sonho virar realizado. Foi assim, primeiro dia a gente chegou e foi para o resort Royalton Bávaro, onde ficaríamos hospedados e seria realizado todos os eventos até o casamento, que foi dentro do próprio resort.
Todos nós ficamos hospedados lá, equipe toda e os convidados. Como tinha dito, no primeiro dia tivemos o famoso Welcome Drink, é a festa de boas-vindas que eles fazem para os convidados. Nem sempre dá para conciliar de todos virem no mesmo voo, alguns convidados chegaram alguns dias antes, outros chegaram depois. Welcome Drink é para reunir todo mundo, curtir uma noite e poder entregar todos os mimos e brindes que Ana Clara e Diogo prepararam para eles, que era boné, protetor solar, chinelo havaianas (que eu também ganhei e amei) e vários outros presentinhos para poder curtir! Esse dia também foi incrível por ser aniversário do Diogo, então foi uma noite especial para abrir as portas para a semana incrível que eles iam ter, comemorar a união e o aniversário. Sem contar que festa, Royalton Bávaro tem todos os dias uma noite para os hospedes, legal é que tem muita música de reggaeton, música bem latina que envolve demais, fora a galera do próprio hotel que fica dançando e animando a galera. Lógico que tivemos músicas brasileiras, porque era a semana da Ana Clara e do Diogo, então foi uma festa latino/brasileira que chamou atenção de todo mundo!

For those reading this story, you can already imagine how crazy it is to organize all of this! But the folks at Cheers Travel organize everything, with a team fully prepared to make this dream come true. So, the first day we arrived and went to the Royalton Bávaro resort, where we would be staying and all the events would be held up until the wedding, which was held within the resort itself.
We all stayed there, the entire staff and the guests. As I mentioned, on the first day we had the famous Welcome Drink, the welcoming party they throw for the guests. It's not always possible to have everyone on the same flight; some guests arrived a few days early, others arrived later. The Welcome Drink is for bringing everyone together, enjoying a night out, and being able to hand out all the treats and gifts Ana Clara and Diogo prepared for them, which included a cap, sunscreen, Havaianas flip-flops (which I also received and loved), and several other little gifts to enjoy! That day was also incredible because it was Diogo's birthday, so it was a special night to kick off an incredible week they were about to have, celebrating their union and their anniversary. Not to mention the party atmosphere, Royalton Bávaro has a night for guests every day. What's cool is that there's a lot of reggaeton music, a very engaging Latin music, and the hotel staff dances and cheers everyone on. Of course, we had Brazilian music, because it was Ana Clara and Diogo's week, so it was a Latin/Brazilian party that caught everyone's attention!

Pula aí para o próximo dia, kkkkkk! Todo mundo descansado depois da festa a noite, todos acomodados definitivamente no hotel, aqui já era sexta-feira e a programação do dia era a Pool Party, normalmente em casamentos que são fora do país ou que são principalmente em praias sempre tem.
Ideia sempre é trazer a galera toda para aproveitar uma parte do dia com os noivos, todos os convidados poderem se sentirem mais a vontade e principalmente tirar bastante foto. Para quem gosta de curtir o dia, piscina com bar, beber um pouco é um dia cheio. Dá para juntar uma turma boa, fazer com que seja mais um momento especial e os convidados aproveitarem o fotógrafo também kkkk, já que estamos lá, bora tirar foto!

Skip ahead to the next day, lol! Everyone was well-rested after the evening party, everyone settled into the hotel. It was already Friday, and the day's plan was a pool party. This is usually the case at weddings abroad or especially at beaches.

The idea is to bring everyone to enjoy part of the day with the bride and groom, so all the guests can feel more comfortable and, most importantly, take plenty of photos. For those who enjoy the day, a pool with a bar and a few drinks makes for a full day. You can gather a great group, make it another special moment, and let the guests enjoy the photographer too. LOL. Since we're there, let's take some photos!

Esse aqui é o dia, fora o casamento lógico, mas esses dia é o dia. Normalmente Pool Party ou Beach Day são no mesmo dia ou a galera aproveita para fazer um dia só, escolhe entre um e outro. Mas como seria um passeio de lancha com todos os convidados e o passeio ser bem distante do resort onde estávamos, pessoal tirou um dia em exclusivo que foi o sábado para poder fazer o passeio pelas praias Dominicanas.
Te dizer, que praias e que dia maravilhoso, estava um senhor sol, um dia muito lindo! No caso já falei anteriormente que a Pool Party era no bar da piscina, onde pessoal costuma aproveitar bem para beber! Como esses dias são planejados para deixar o pessoal se conhecer, os amigos conhecerem a família, começarem a se sentir mais a vontade, aqui ideia também é fazer com que o pessoal acostume comigo, galera bem tranquila deixando eu fotografar para contar a história do que está rolando nessa aventura do casamento da Ana Clara e do Diogo. Não sei se isso foi proposital, mas deixar o Beach Day para praticamente o último dia foi maravilhoso. Já vi muita gente aproveitar os momentos, mas esse aqui foi surreal. Galera aproveitou como se não houvesse o amanhã, estava todo mundo feliz comemorando, feliz demais, bebendo e brindando!
Falar como fotógrafo mesmo, esses momentos são incríveis para nós pois assim a gente consegue pegar realmente a essência de cada um, poder fazer com que as coisas aconteçam naturalmente, fazer o que eu amo fazer, contar histórias (até porque é isso que vocês estão lendo até aqui né?). Esses momentos faz com que a gente não precise manipular nada, posar para fazer algo, eu simplesmente peguei minha câmera e fotografei, são momentos assim que eu tenho o maior prazer em fazer, porque ali consigo deixar marcado para que eles relembrem sempre a experiência que proporcionaram para todas as pessoas que estavam envolvidas no casório!

This is the day, aside from the wedding, of course, but these days are the day. Usually, pool parties and beach days are on the same day, or people choose to do it as a single day, choosing between one or the other. But since it would be a speedboat ride with all the guests and the trip would be quite far from the resort where we were staying, we took a dedicated day, Saturday, to tour the Dominican beaches.

Tell you what wonderful beaches and day! It was a beautiful sunny day! I mentioned earlier that the pool party was at the pool bar, where people usually enjoy a drink! Since these days are planned to let people get to know each other, friends meet family, and start to feel more comfortable, the idea here is also to get people used to me. The group was very relaxed, letting me take photos to tell the story of what's going on in this adventure of Ana Clara and Diogo's wedding. I don't know if this was intentional, but leaving the beach day for practically the last day was wonderful. I've seen so many people enjoy the moment, but this one was surreal. Everyone embraced it as if there were no tomorrow; everyone was so happy, celebrating, so happy, drinking, and toasting!
Speaking as a photographer, these moments are incredible for us because they allow us to truly capture the essence of each person, make things happen naturally, do what I love: tell stories (because that's what you're reading this far, right?). These moments mean we don't need to manipulate anything or pose for something; I simply grabbed my camera and took pictures. These are moments like these that I enjoy capturing, because I can leave a lasting impression on them, so they'll always remember the experience they provided for everyone involved in the wedding!

Ufah, para quem estava curioso chegou o dia mais importante.
Domingo, dia do casamento, dia do sonho da Ana Clara e Diogo. Como falei anteriormente a equipe toda da Cheers já vai deixando tudo pronto, celebração, recepção, para que todo mundo consiga aproveitar o dia sem ter preocupação nenhuma.
Poder ter esses dias bem juntinho com o pessoal é uma maneira bem intimista de poder se conectar com as pessoas, tive a oportunidade de falar e conhecer todos os convidados, isso foi incrível. Nem sempre é possível, mas quando temos casamentos que tem alguns dias de festas a mais, traz essa oportunidade de fazer com que as pessoas se acostumem comigo. De fato para o meu trabalho, da forma que eu gosto de trabalhar e conhecer as pessoas, é importante. Fez com que a make dela (making-of ou dia da noiva) fosse tão natural, com as pessoas bem a vontade sendo, elas, importantíssimo eu conseguir mostrar isso e não estou falando de poder postar, mas sim para eles, para Ana Clara e Diogo terem com eles a história desses dias. Porque nosso trabalho além de poder contar a história, lógico, é poder fazer com que eles olhem o que não tiveram oportunidade de olhar. É poder ver como as pessoas se emocionaram naquele dia, ver pessoas chorando que não tiveram oportunidade de ver, é poder ver a reação a sobrinha chorando porque recebeu uma fotinha falando que ela é importante, ver ela se derramar em lágrimas! São histórias, esse é o meu papel, fazer com que o que eles não puderam enxergar, eu possa transmitir a partir de fotografias. É ter uma história de uma família para uma família.
Por isso eu quis contar tudo isso aqui, porque não é com todos que a gente consegue ter essa conexão, não estou falando de pessoas e sim de tempo. Tento conversar o máximo com todo mundo, mas principalmente por atender pessoas do mundo inteiro que passam tão rápido pela minha vida, poder ter esse momento com todo mundo é incrível. Pude observar com carinho todo mundo, o que cada um tinha com eles ali, poder ver e entender o que cada um poderia compartilhar com eles para conseguir escrever não com palavras mas sim com foto, o que esse dia foi para Ana Clara e Diogo.
É um sonho, foi deles, de todos os convidados, foi o meu! O resto vocês vão ver o que eu consegui contar, um dia cheio de amor, esperança e conexão.

Whew, for those who were curious, the most important day has arrived.
Sunday, the wedding day, the day of Ana Clara and Diogo's dreams. As I mentioned before, the entire Cheers team is already getting everything ready—the celebration and reception—so everyone can enjoy the day without any worries.
Being able to spend these days together is a truly intimate way to connect with people. I had the opportunity to talk to and meet all the guests, which was incredible. It's not always possible, but when we have weddings that have a few extra days of festivities, it provides the opportunity to get people used to me. It's truly important for my work, the way I like to work and get to know people. It made her makeup (making-of or bride day) feel so natural, with people feeling comfortable being themselves. It's incredibly important that I be able to show this, and I'm not talking about being able to post it, but rather for them, for Ana Clara and Diogo to have the story of those days with them. Because our job, beyond being able to tell the story, of course, is to make them see what they didn't have the chance to see. It's being able to see how moved people were that day, to see people crying who didn't have the chance to see, to see the reaction of the niece crying because she received a photo telling her how important she is, to see her burst into tears! These are stories; that's my role: to make what they couldn't see, I can convey through photographs. It's having a story from one family to another.
That's why I wanted to share all of this here, because we can't have this connection with everyone. I'm not talking about people, but about time. I try to talk to everyone as much as possible, but especially because I meet people from all over the world who pass so quickly through my life, being able to have this moment with everyone is incredible. I was able to observe everyone with affection, what each one had with them there, to see and understand what each one had to share with them, to be able to write, not with words, but with photos, what this day meant to Ana Clara and Diogo. It's a dream, it was theirs, all the guests', it was mine! You'll see the rest of what I managed to tell you, a day full of love, hope, and connection.

Nossa, para vocês terem ideia o casamento foi em julho, estou postando ele agora em outubro.
Queria conseguir de fato transmitir o que estava na minha cabeça e por muito tempo não estava conseguindo de fato colocar em palavras do que foi esse evento. Ele foi muito lindo e sempre que revejo as fotos eu consigo enxergar o que meu trabalho diz, por incrível que pareça quando estou fotografando consigo falar com meu coração, por todo amor que tenho pela fotografia. Acredito que por mais que tenha demorado para postar aqui, consegui dizer o que esteva bem guardadinha aqui no fundo.
Queria agradecer muito a equipe da Cheers que ajudou e deu um jeito nas ideias, tudo que precisamos fazer ou mudar, foi incrível, quem ajudou a gente bastante foi Bruna!
Agora agradecer demais a Ana Clara e Diogo, vocês passaram pela minha vida uma vez, fazendo um ensaio de casal e quando vocês mandaram mensagem dizendo que iam se casar, quando pensaram em fotos eu fui a primeira pessoa que veio na cabeça. Puutz, isso fez com quem eu ganhasse um prêmio, vocês não tem noção do carinho que é receber um pedido desses.
Logicamente eu com maior prazer iria atender vocês, como disse, poderia ser como fosse essa aventura, sendo loucura ou não, eu estaria lá se vocês tivessem a certeza de que fosse o meu trabalho o certo. Fico muito feliz em saber que fui escolhido para poder acompanhar toda essa aventura que para mim foi um sonho! Fotografo a muitos anos e esse era um sonho de quando eu comecei, vocês realizaram da mesma forma que realizaram o de vocês de casar fora. Então não tenho como descrever o carinho que tive por esse momento, muito obrigado por escolher a minha pessoa e meu trabalho para acompanhar, vocês são incríveis, obrigado!

Wow, to give you an idea, the wedding was in July; I'm posting it now in October.
I wanted to truly convey what was on my mind, and for a long time, I couldn't quite put into words what that event was like. It was beautiful, and every time I look back at the photos, I can see what my work says. Amazingly, when I'm photographing, I can speak from my heart, thanks to all the love I have for photography. I believe that even though it took me a while to post here, I managed to express what was hidden deep down inside.
I'd like to thank the Cheers team for their help and for organizing everything we needed to do or change. It was incredible. Bruna was the one who helped us a lot!
Now, a huge thank you to Ana Clara and Diogo. You two came into my life once, doing a couple's photoshoot, and when you messaged me saying you were getting married, when you thought of photos, I was the first person who came to mind. Wow, this made me win an award. You have no idea how sweet it is to receive a request like that.
Of course, I would be delighted to assist you. As I said, whatever this adventure may be, crazy or not, I would be there if you were certain my work was the right one. I'm so happy to know I was chosen to be part of this entire adventure, which for me was a dream! I've been photographing for many years, and this was a dream I had when I started.
